London Landmarks And The London Eye

June 26th, 2009  Tagged , , ,

The city of London, as well as being the capital of the country, has a large number of England’s most popular visitor attractions. For generations London has been a popular vacation destination and much of this interest is due to the immensity of the historical buildings and the unique culture. While many of the visitor attractions found in London have a historic interest, such as the Houses of Parliament, The Tower of London and Buckingham Palace, there are many that are only recent additions, such as the London Aquarium, and the youngest of these is the London Eye.

The London Eye is often referred to as the Millennium Wheel as it was built in 1999 to commemorate the arrival of the new millennium. It was officially opened by the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, in the evening of December 31 but, sadly, there were technical issues and it was not opened to the public until March 2000. Standing 135m above London it has become an unmistakable, and highly visible, landmark.

London is the capital city of England, the seat to the throne of the British Empire and possibly one of the most important cities in Europe and the world when it comes to industry, finance, culture and modern living in general. If you are a citizen and a member of this massive community or planning a vacation or a city break to London in the not too distant future, then you might consider taking a look on the internet to find out all about what is going on there. There is one web site on the internet that is designed to offer its visitors the chance to learn everything that is happening in regards to the news, events, restaurants, bars and more within this metropolis. London was the first port of the British Empire and the trading heart of that empire. London has always been the most international of all cities. It is not at all surprising therefore that world treasures ended up here. In its heyday the port of London, full of ships from every corner of the world, looked like a forest – this was a wooded landscape of countless masts.

London offers a comprehensive guide to the market at an international level. It looks at travel accomodation, transportation, car rental, tourist attractions and retail travel. It identifies the leading companies and offers strategic analysis of key factors influencing the market, including background information on disposable income, annual leave and holiday taking habits.

With as many as three and a half million people “flying” on the London Eye a year it is now one of the most popular attractions in London. The main reason people take the trip is to enjoy the most amazing views of London. From the top of the wheel it is possible to see the surrounding four miles and you can see a multitude of famous London landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Hampton Court Palace, St Paul’s and Westminster Abbey. One of the best views is of the Houses of Parliament which are so close that it would appear that they are just below.

The London Eye has proved to be rather a romantic place with many people proposing to, and even marrying, their partners there. When booking a flight it is also possible to book other things such as educational trips for small groups of students of all ages.

The City offers some unique shopping experiences; from the magnificent 18th-century Royal Exchange with its luxury brands to Leaden hall Market with its mix of shops, Victorian ironwork and cobbled alleyways. There are the vibrant and colorful markets on the City’s eastern borders too, the renowned Borough Market just over the river and the world-famous Hatton Garden for jeweler just to the west. Whatever you’re after, that special something, old style market stalls or a little retail therapy away from the hustle and bustle of the high street, the City has the answer. For spending holidays in London is also best place.

Paris : City of Light

Well informed, eloquent and oh-so-romantic, the ‘City of Light’ is a philosopher, a poet, a crooner. As it always has been, Paris is a million different things to a million different people.

Paris has all but tired the superlatives that can reasonably be applied to any city. Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower – at sunrise, at sunset, at night – have been described countless times, as have the Seine and the subtle (and not-so-subtle) differences between the Left and Right Banks. But what writers have been unable to capture is the grandness and even the magic.

Paris is the capital of France and the country’s largest city. It is situated on the river Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region. The city of Paris, within its limits largely unchanged since 1860. Paris is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, with 45 million tourists every year in the Paris Region, 60% of who are foreign visitors. There are numerous iconic landmarks among its many attractions, along with world-famous institutions and popular parks.

Paris from the 11th century was a popular destination for traders, students and religious pilgrimages, but its ‘ tourist industry’ began on a large scale only with the 19th-century appearance of rail travel, namely from the state’s organization of France’s rail network, with Paris at its centre, from 1848. Among Paris’ first mass attractions drawing international interest were the above-mentioned Expositions Universal’s that were the origin of Paris’ many monuments, namely the Eiffel Tower from 1889. These, in addition to the capital’s Second Empire embellishments, did much to make the city itself the attraction it is today.

Eiffel Tower is among the leading tourist attraction in Paris, France. One of the greatest modern architectural masterpieces in the world, Eiffel Tower was designed and built by a renowned French engineer Gustave Eiffel to commemorate the centenary of French Revolution in 1889. Eiffel Tower is made from 18, 038 pieces of puddle iron, and it rises to over 300 meters above the ground and weighs around 7, 000 tons. The tower provides stunning views of Paris city and the surrounding Ile de France region. Eiffel tower has two world-class resturants at lower levels, while the top platform of the tower has a bar, a souvenir shop, and the replica of office of Gustave Eiffel.Paris’ museums and monuments are among its highest-esteemed attractions; tourism has motivated both the city and national governments to create new ones. The city’s most prized museum, the Louvre, welcomes over 8 million visitors a year, being by far the world’s most-visited art museum. The city’s cathedrals are another main attraction. The Louvre is one of the largest and most famous museums, housing many works of art, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo statue.

All of the establishment’s former social or cultural elements, such as its ballrooms and gardens, are gone today. Much of Paris’ hotel, restaurant and night entertainment trades have become heavily dependent on tourism.
